Edward VIII - 1937Edward VIII - 1937
Due to the abdication of the king no coinage was officially minted under Edward VIII in 1937. What coins do exist were probably patterns and are extremely rare and expensive.

A coin has been made however, by Maklouf, who was the chief designer of the Royal Mint for 30 years. The coin is silver and is in proof condition.

Please remember that whilst this coin is a silver sixpence it was not minted at the time and was never legal tender.

During the short reign of Edward VIII the Spanish civil war began and the BBC began regular television broadcasts.
