 | James I - 1603 - 1625 These sixpence have the same design style as under Elizabeth but feature the Scottish arms on the shield on the reverse. All the coins were minted at the Tower mint in London. Sixpences from James I are still fairly common but are rare in the Extra Fine category.
During the reign of James I Guy Fawkes was executed (1605), Galileo first observed craters on the moon (1609), Sir Walter Raleigh was executed (1618), the Mayflower arrived in Massachusetts (1620).
